I’m not really a big Eeyore fan, but when I came across a recent problem with my inks (and trying not to swear), “Oh, bother”, was all I could think to say.
See, what the photo here is showing is that the formulas that I use to mix my ink colors don’t always work. In this case, I carefully measured out my individual parts of different colors, mixed them together aaaaand… “Hey! That’s not the color!” (Alright, I did swear. Quite a bit, actually.)
I think what’s happening here is that the colors that I use may contain different amounts of pigment from batch to batch. In all the cases here, I had to add much more red paint- in small, tedious increments… than my formula called for to approximate the color I was trying to achieve. So maybe one batch of red had a lot more pigment than the next one. That wouldn’t be so much of a big deal if someone was using the red straight to print t-shirts or something, but it turns out to be a HUGE deal when mixing colors together.
I’ll call the manufacturer to check on this, but this is potentially a big, big problem! It takes a long time to tweak each color. You can see how many different tries I had with the butternut! I’m afraid I’ll need to switch paint companies and redo all my formulas. Ugh…
Any suggestions out there?
Sorry no suggestions, just sorry about the problem. I would get very frustrated.
Keep a piece of your beautiful new print nearby to cheer yourself up. It’s gorgeous.
