It’s bad to be impatient. I should be waiting for a nice, sunny day to take these photos of my new print. Instead, the first photos of the fabric are taken in the buzzy, fluorescent lights of my office (it’s my lunch break!). What I wouldn’t give for some good lighting and an iron right now!
Anyhow- here’s the new print! “Black Locust”, so named for the tree which it resembles. The branches of this tree sometimes do actually zigzag slightly, which I love. I printed up a few yards this past weekend to try it out. Look! Isn’t it pretty? It has a different look depending on which way it’s oriented.

So that’s what I’ve been up to. Soon, this fabric will be cut up and made into things for the Etsy shop. If you have anything in particular you’d like to see, let me know before I get started!
On another note, Poppytalk is taking nominations for a “virtual awards ceremony” for crafters. If you have a chance and feel so inclined, pop over there and nominate Home Sweet for favorite handmade textiles (or favorite handmade eco, or favorite handmade housewares… ) I’d so very much appreciate it!

Oooooo, that turned out really nice! I like it very much.

Hi Jenny,
I’ve been following your blog for awhile now and enjoying it very much. Your Black Locust print is very lovely! Kudos!
Lovely! Geometric, organic, structured and soft all at the same time – I don’t know how you do it. The first thing it brings to mind is the sun shining through tree branches….
