We’ve filled out our registration form and sent in our check, so it’s official- our first craft show of the year is the Delaware By Hand member’s show on May 29th! With it snowing outside, and the child napping upstairs (fingers crossed, anyway), it seems like a good time to sit down with a cup of [...] Oh joy! I’ve been waiting all week for this. Home Sweet is one of the nominated Favorite Handmade Textiles artists for “The Poppies”, Poppytalk’s virtual awards ceremony. I noticed that over the past few days, that this has been bringing in a lot of traffic to the site, especially of the new visitor variety, and [...] This past year with Home Sweet has been about setting up shop- learning to be a good block printer, picking materials and inks, creating designs, carving stamps, etc. This next year, my chief resolution is to learn how to run a business online. Weighty stuff, I know! So I went to my library to check [...] I’ve been waiting- none too patiently- for the December issue of This Old House magazine to come out. Waiting, waiting, waiting… It’s not because we’re such fans of This Old House (although we are), or because we own an old house (which we do). It’s because Home Sweet’s fabrics are featured in their 2009 Secret Sources! [...] Good week, last week! Thanks so much Etsy! First, I opened up an email- Etsy Finds: Libra vs. Scorpio- and saw one of my lampshades! What a nice surprise! Totally made my day. Then the next day, Iopened Etsy Finds: Shop Live with People Style Watch, and there it was again! The same lampshade! And then again this [...] Oh joy! My search for a new block printing ink is over! (For now, at least…) Let’s see. I was using Union Aerotex, which made a nice enough print but was really troublesome in other ways. Since I decided to switch, I tried out Matsui, Jacquard Textile Colors (both too thin), Versatex (nice) and finally settled [...] I’ve been working on photos lately to update the website and whatnot, and I took a new shot of the colors I have mixed to print. (Okay, so “black” comes straight out of the can!) It’s so hard to get all of the colors to look accurate even in the same photo! And after spending a [...] Crafty Bastards this past weekend was our first craft show, and holy cow!! It was crazy busy! Dan and I had the most awesome time- seriously, it went as well as I could have hoped- and now that we’ve been back for a couple of days and are mostly recovered, I just wanted to be [...] Crafty Bastards is tommorow and we’re psyched! We got a little carried away, I think. Here’s a list of some of the items we’ll have for sale: Pillow covers (and pillow forms made from recycled plastic bottles) Nine days until Crafty Bastards, and I’ve been working way, way hard to get everything ready! In my need for quick, nutritious, family-friendly dinners, I haven’t actually made spaghetti every night, but its been tempting. Here are a few pics of progress to date.
