You can thank Ray Charles and his “Night Time is the Right Time” for the title of this post. Lately, I’ve been kind of focused on making lamp shades printed in white ink. It’s hard to say why. Perhaps I’ve been inspired by our wintry landscape over these past two weeks. Maybe I ran out of [...] It’s bad to be impatient. I should be waiting for a nice, sunny day to take these photos of my new print. Instead, the first photos of the fabric are taken in the buzzy, fluorescent lights of my office (it’s my lunch break!). What I wouldn’t give for some good lighting and an iron right now! Anyhow- here’s the [...] I’ve been waiting- none too patiently- for the December issue of This Old House magazine to come out. Waiting, waiting, waiting… It’s not because we’re such fans of This Old House (although we are), or because we own an old house (which we do). It’s because Home Sweet’s fabrics are featured in their 2009 Secret Sources! [...] A custom ordered lamp shade printed in Apple Blossom in Royal Blue ink gave me a chance to play with a few new lampshade-making toys that arrived this week. This project came out really, really well- hopefully I’ll get a photo of it once it’s hung in her kitchen! Oh joy! My search for a new block printing ink is over! (For now, at least…) Let’s see. I was using Union Aerotex, which made a nice enough print but was really troublesome in other ways. Since I decided to switch, I tried out Matsui, Jacquard Textile Colors (both too thin), Versatex (nice) and finally settled [...] Sorry. I know I’ve been neglecting my blog lately. The thing about it is, I figure a blog is a good place to talk about sources of inspiration, objects of desire, finished projects, new prints or patterns or colors. Like that. Where lately I’ve been a more utilitarian state of mind. I haven’t been inspired [...] “How do you like my new studio?” These were my words in a dream last night, after I found this gorgeous and inspiring prefab cabin at Cabin Fever’s website earlier this week. The yardage is cut into table runners. Linen fabric to layer under table runners That's a lot of orange linen! Can I just say how grateful I am that my mom is coming up to help me hem 45 yards [...] I guess it’s my turn to be busy! Working on a new print- very exciting! I created this block specifically for a new project, and I’ll post details as I make progress. I can’t wait to see how this turns out… Starting to get ready for Crafty Bastards.
